Jazz in AZ conducts a unique jazz education and exposure program called How Cool Is Jazz that primarily targets 4th grade students. In each of the past two years, the program was conducted in 50 schools and exposed 6,000+ children to jazz. Jazz in AZ also sponsors educational events for junior high school, high school and college-level jazz students, and provides scholarships to help those students who are committed to pursuing careers in jazz performance or education.

Jazz in AZ produces and presents nearly 40 jazz events annually, including the Jazz in Concert and Catch A Rising Star series at The ASU Kerr Cultural Center in Scottsdale and monthly member parties that are open to the public. Jazz in AZ also co-presents the Chandler Jazz Festival, featuring a Battle of Youth Jazz Bands competition that dovetails with its educational mission.

Through its website, bi-monthly newsletter, and media relations, Jazz in AZ has become the preeminent source of information on jazz in the Greater Phoenix area and beyond. The goal of Jazz in AZ is to evolve into an “interactive jazz community“ with exclusive benefits for Jazz in AZ members, jazz venues, music students, musicians, and educators, while promoting jazz to the public-at-large.
