Founded in 1977, Jazz
IN AZ is a non-profit organization devoted to supporting the art
of LIVE JAZZ and cultivating interest in jazz through youth education,
scholarship opportunities and community outreach.
Jazz IN AZmembers
are a diverse and vibrant group of people including listeners, musicians,
educators, students, professionals, and business people.
Jazz IN AZ sponsors
concerts by local Jazz artists and some appearances by prominent
national Jazz artists to further the appreciation and enjoyment
of live Jazz performances.
Jazz IN AZ conducts presentations in grade schools for the purpose
of sparking interest in jazz study and performance, as well as cultivating
a future audience for jazz music. (In addition, youngsters who participate
in music have been shown to experience numerous academic and social
advantages.)
Jazz IN AZ supports
the next generation of Jazz artists through scholarships for promising
Jazz students, and financial assistance for music lessons and instruments
through the Jazz In AZ Scholarship Fund in memory of Chuck Jenkins.
Jazz IN AZ functions
offer members special opportunities to meet, mingle, and network
with others who appreciate one of the finer things in life: Jazz
music.
Jazz IN AZ sponsors
"Jazz Solos", a program for Jazz fans who are single and
want to socialize with other singles.
Jazz IN AZ supports jazz on the airwaves through cooperation with
listener-supported KJZZ, 91.5 FM.
