Message from the Executive Director - JOEL ROBIN GOLDENTHAL

We’re on a roll at Jazz In AZ! Over the past couple of years, Jazz In AZ has worked up an impressive head of steam! We can now boast:

  • vibrant monthly parties that attract hundreds of jazz-lovers;

  • a dynamic season of monthly concerts at the ASU Kerr Cultural Center from October through May;

  • a newly co-sponsored Summer concert series at Kerr featuring double-headers, featuring young rising stars as opening acts;

  • scholarships awarded to music students for youth music camp in Sedona;

  • a rolling music lesson scholarship program for qualified young students;

  • support of the Chandler Jazz Festival, which attracted 7000 folks to its 4th year;

  • “Get-acquainted with jazz” programs and clinics in dozens of schools;

  • weekly jam sessions at The Pita Jungle – which is now in its 4th year and continues to grow in audience and musician participation (And we’re actively seeking additional jam session venues in North Scottsdale and the West Valley);

  • “Jazz Notes,” a bi-monthly newsletter filled with information for jazz-lovers

  • a newly redesigned website to enhance communications with our members and the community-at-large;

  • a newly created Executive Director position to provide our organization with leadership continuity (thanks to the generosity of The Stewart Foundation); and

  • we are in the process of building an “army of volunteers” to take the organization to new heights!

If you have been a party to this revitalization, then congratulations to you! Let’s keep the ball rolling! If this is your first exposure to Jazz In AZ, and you love jazz, then this is an organization that I sincerely hope you will be overjoyed to have discovered and want to join.

If you enjoy listening to live jazz and care about the continuation of jazz in the culture of Arizona and America, then Jazz In AZ is an organization that promises to give you tremendous satisfaction – on whatever level you wish to personally choose to be involved. You can be a listener, a volunteer, a financial contributor – or all three! However you choose to be a part of our jazz community in the desert, we will make every ongoing effort to earn your discerning ears, your increased participation, and your generous support.

Joel

    A Few Words from Jazz in Az Board President Gerry Reynolds

    I speak for the entire Board of Directors in saying "thank you" to all our members who participated in our jazz parties, Kerr Center performances, the Chandler Jazz Festival, and the many co-sponsored events around the Valley this past year. It was truly a successful year, all because of your support. We want you to know that, first and foremost, we place high value in providing service to our members because they have become such an important part of fulfilling our mission of promoting jazz music and educating our youth about jazz music.
